Ingredients

  • 1 ripe pineapple (about 1 kg)
  • 500 ml cold water
  • 30 to 50 g sugar, optional
  • Juice of ½ lemon, optional

Method

  1. 01 Peel the pineapple, remove the fibrous core if needed, cut the flesh into cubes.
  2. 02 Blend with the water until fluid.
  3. 03 Strain through a fine sieve for a clearer juice, or keep the pulp.
  4. 04 Sweeten and add lemon to taste.
  5. 05 Serve iced.

Market pineapple makes a more fragrant juice than cartons. Very ripe fruit often needs no sugar.
